Subtraction Cutting Exercise 02
Incorporated sustainability in this garment, I reused the leftover panels from previous projects and joined them like a pillow case, playing color-blocking with the contrast colors. While constructing this garment, I have applied subtraction cutting techniques by Julian Roberts, hence formed into a drapey and flowy silhouette.
Fabrics used:

- Prepare the paper patterns, insert sleeves, both front and back.
- Mix and match the two fabrics to mix up the prints, as the colors are contrasting.
The subtracted pattern:
- Layout the patters pieces.
- Trace and join the pieces.
- Sew up ⅓ of the hem to make the hem smaller.
- Sew a bit more to close up the hem.
- Join the shoulders and side seams.
- Put it on the mannequin or wear it to see the brief silhouette.
- Cut out the circles and sew to join.
- Add some gathers for texture on the back circles.
- Attach a snap button each on shoulder and side seam to create more drapes.
